Protective dressing RVS SELTO
Selto is a protective dressing intended mainly for children and young patients who require long-term treatments using Subcutaneous Reservoirs (RVS), although its versatility and functionality allow its prescription to be extended to patients of any age.
Beyond offering effective protection to patients, acting as a cover and shock-absorbing shield in the RVS area, which allows them to do all kinds of activities and normalize their lives more (play, do sport, swimming, bathing,..), this innovative patented system was also designed with the aim of minimizing the psychological and emotional impact suffered by this type of patient.
The whole product is composed of two parts; an adhesive dressing that is placed in the area of the RVS and that incorporates the shield’s fixing ring, and the shield itself, which is durable. The system allows for easy administration of the treatment by removing the shield, which in turn reduces the single-use waste and protective material commonly used in this type of care. The structure of the object, which is also customizable, was designed with the clear intention of being scalable to be able to provide solutions to a wide range of needs.
The project, result of our collaboration with the Parc Taulí Research and Innovation Institute (I3PT) of the Parc Taulí University Hospital in Sabadell, has been led by nurses Jordi Torralbas (mental health) and Montserrat Selvas (paediatrics ) and has obtained different recognitions, such as a PERIS scholarship or the SHAM Risk Management Award in 2021.
