SPD weekly organization system · Anota Prim

Weekly organization system design for Anota SPD tablets.

The SPD is not only a mere compartmentalized container, but it is a system with which the different treatments or patient intakes can be programmed weekly and safely.

The preparation base is used mainly in residences and pharmacies, and allows the patient’s weekly medication to be prepared in a controlled and safe way. The system is useful for advanced age patients or patients with various difficulties, because it allows to minimize errors in the medication and to have more effective controls of the doses already taken.

The system is made up of four elements; the plastic base that allows the preparation of the medication, the blister or medication container, the cardboard or template with adhesive, and the sealing spatula.

The base, made of ABS, is a stable support that presents a series of voids that correspond to the days and weekly intakes. On top of it, and fully guided by the shape set out in the template, the boxed blister -into which we introduce the daily doses of each medicine- is placed and adjusted.

Once the filling is completed, we seal the blister using an adhesive lid (which includes the information of use) and ensure it with the spatula so that the pills don’t flow.

In order to minimize space but above all not to lose the spatula, we designed a housing for it in a way that both plastic elements are united.

The patient can, with his finger or nail and easily, break the aluminum film to access the medication in the cell (or intake), preventing medications mixures from different intakes as it happens with other systems or boxes of medication.

The design solution provided, not only a good usability of the product, but the budgeting and cost intentions that had been set in the project brief by the client were fulfilled -and improved-. Such important aspects for industrial design.
